U.N. Memorial Park in Busan: A Tribute to Lives Lost in War
The U.N. Memorial Cemetery was constructed in the 1960s to honor the 2,300 men from 11 countries who gave their lives in the Korean War. It is the only U.N. cemetery in the world.
What You'll Find There and When to Go
The park covers over 30 acres and includes two ponds and several national monuments from the countries that participated in the conflict, including Turkey and Australia.
The cemetery celebrates several holidays throughout the year, including American Memorial Day in May and Korean Memorial Day in June. The park also hosts a Tributary Ceremony of the Veterans of the Korean War in April and the U.N.'s Ceremony Day in October.
